Ranitidine 150 mg is a medication that was commonly used to reduce stomach acid and treat conditions such as heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It belongs to a class of drugs called H2 (histamine-2) blockers, which work by blocking histamine receptors in the stomach lining, thereby decreasing acid production. By reducing excess acid, ranitidine helped relieve symptoms like burning sensation, indigestion, and stomach pain. However, due to safety concerns over impurities found in some ranitidine products, it has been withdrawn from many markets, and alternative medications like famotidine are now recommended instead. Always consult your doctor before use.
