So I’m building this custom wall panel that slides up to reveal a TV, and I thought I had everything figured out… until I realized my standard actuator doesn’t fit the limited space I have behind the panel. I stumbled across this track-style actuator from Progressive Automations, looks like it doesn’t extend beyond its body like rod-style ones do. Has anyone here used it in a vertical lift setup or something similar? Just trying to avoid trial-and-error if someone already walked this road.

Yeah, I’ve actually used the PA-ST1 for a retractable cabinet lift in my kitchen—space was tight, and the track actuator was a lifesaver. Super smooth motion, and the lack of an extending rod meant I didn’t have to redesign my cabinetry. If you’re short on depth, it’s a solid pick. I found it through this high speed linear actuator https://www.progressiveautomations.com/products/pa-st1 when I was browsing compact linear actuator options. Just make sure you’ve got stable mounting since all the motion happens inside the housing.

I’m not into DIY automation much myself, but I love seeing the stuff people manage to build with these things. A friend of mine did a hidden bar cabinet in his living room that opens with a remote and it blew my mind. I always assumed that kind of setup was super expensive or required some kind of fancy engineering degree, but he did it all over a couple weekends just learning as he went.
