Men with erectile dysfunction, often known as sexual impotence, are treated with tadalafil. Tadalafil is a member of the class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. These drugs limit the overactive activity of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type-5. This enzyme functions, among other places, in the penis.
